Special Events
We run
British Riding Clubs or
BRC every other Wednesday. This is a BHS led initiative. We use it for those that would like to know more about horses on and off the ground and has led to a few members later getting horses of their own. We have worked through the BHS Progressive Riding Tests where some of our members have achieved all six official BHS certificates. We shall also be working through the Challenge Awards. During our time at BRC we have also played games, done barrel racing, horseball, jumping competitions, dressage competitions and hacking out to learn how to do as much as possible on horses. All new members are welcome as soon as they can do walk and rising trot.
Progressive Riding Test or the
Challenge Awards certificates are also available to anyone that is interested. We can certify tests 1-6 in house by prior arrangement. When all 6 tests have been completed they allow the holder direct entry to the BHS Stage 2..
Every holiday we run the very popular
‘Own A Pony Days’ giving clients the chance to see what owning a horse is all about. These include fetching in, grooming, tacking up, a lesson and then an afternoon of fun and games.
We intermittently run ‘have a go’ dressage competitions as well as clear round showjumping competitions. The height of the course for the clear round is completely dependent on what the rider would like and lessons are always available over the course. Please contact us for more details regarding the next competition dates.
Ride Safe training is run periodically throughout the year. Please contact Jenny the Ride Safe examiner and trainer for more details.
Pony Camp is three days of fun and frolics both on and off the horse. Pony Camp is a great way to immerse yourself in the horse world with activities such as lessons, hacking, horseball, mini competitions and for the more advanced Cross Country.
Our Annual Show is held every summer in the school summer holidays. It is open to everyone whether you have a horse or need to borrow one of ours. We do have a limited amount of horses so book early to avoid disappointment. It includes showing classes, handy pony, showjumping and working hunter classes.
We participate every year in the famous
Ashover Show (
www.ashovershow.co.uk) which is held the second Wednesday in August. For those regular clients this can be the chance to participate in a great county show even if they have not got their own horse.
